Confidential Self-Assessment

How Is the Work Actually Affecting You?

This self-assessment uses only published, validated screening instruments, scored exactly as their authors specify, with the authors' own interpretive ranges and full citations. The instruments were not written by Attorney Wellness Project. They reflect decades of peer-reviewed research on helping professionals, including published studies with public defenders and prosecutors.

What this is: an educational screening. It can tell you how your responses compare to established, research-based ranges.

What this is not: a diagnosis, medical advice, legal advice, or a substitute for evaluation by a qualified clinician. No screening instrument can diagnose any condition. Only a licensed professional can do that, in person and in context.

About this assessment

This assessment uses a single instrument, presented complete and unaltered, as its authors require. It takes about 5 minutes.

Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL-5)
30 items · ~5 minutes · B. Hudnall Stamm, 2009-2012 · proqol.org
The most widely used measure of the positive and negative effects of helping work. Measures Compassion Satisfaction, Burnout, and Secondary Traumatic Stress. This is an occupational wellbeing measure, not a clinical or diagnostic instrument.

Before you begin

  • Your answers are processed entirely in your browser. Your scores show once, only on your screen. No data is collected, viewed, stored, or scored by Attorney Wellness Project or our servers.
  • You can print or save your results page for your own records, or to share with a clinician of your choosing.
  • If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24/7, free, confidential) rather than continuing this screening.
